Fountain Pens: Fine Writing Instruments

Visconti

Dante Del Vecchio and Luigi Poli, both collectors of fountain pens, decided to set up a company to produce and market celluloid fountain pens in 1988. Although, the celluloid material had been abandoned by established brands, it was in high demand by collectors. They had a hard time finding the celluloid because it had become extremely limited as hard rubber was much cheaper and easier to find. Celluloid is not derived from petroleum products like plastic is, but from cellulose and camphor worked with alcohol, making it an environmentally friendly and modern material. Even one of the oldest companies that has already stopped producing celluloid resumed fabrication because they were persuaded by Del Vecchio and Poli’s persistence. After finding the celluloid, they encountered another problem, finding the machines needed to work with it. However, in time, Del Vecchio and Poli put together a team of artisans with varied experience. Because the team of artisans had such a deep love for fountain pens, they applied their talents to the numerous stages of handcrafting celluloid. Visconti became the widest celluloid pen factory worldwide, after several years of experience in the making of the product. It also offers its service and experience to anyone who wishes to produce pens with celluloid. Visconti also extends its experience to other materials such as ebonite, acrylics, lucite, bakelite, and ivory.
Visconti has listed several patents such as the traveling ink pot and the double reservoir power filter and hopes to offer its customers new and interesting technical solutions. Visconti offers four different filling units, such as the power filler, the crescent filler, the piston filler, and the converter. It is the only company to do so.
Visconti has also become a goldsmith company that makes solid silver, solid gold, and precious jewelry using a Florentine tradition and its extended knowledge. It has also introduced new techniques to jewelry making with the Alhambra filigree incrusting technique within the body of the pen. This is a secret process which is only used by Visconti. Visconti is now considered to be one of the most creative companies for design and technical innovations and has become the pen most collectors look most forward to obtaining.
