In the spring of 1973, Renzo Salvadori of Italy founded the Stipula pen company. Before the company sold pens, it began as producers of gold and silver clasps and ornamental fittings for important leather firms. Then in 1977, the company moved on to focusing on and creating the manufacture of desk accessories. Later, in 1982, the company began the manufacture of pens. However, the company first produced the pens for other trademarks, but in 1991, it had a new registered trade name, Stipula.
The company is known and valued for its accuracy in the choice of materials for its products. The company has a strong belief that a pen is not merely an instrument you write with, but it becomes a part of who you are, and follows your characteristic traits. The company enjoys producing these pens because each is different than the next, and a buyer can chose one that best fits their lifestyle and personality. Stipula also believes that because every customer and collector has a dream, they are determined to mold a material object to fulfill that dream.
Every Stipula pen begins with design as the first step in their process of producing the perfect pen. The process begins with the Design Department. Each soon to be pen is drawn. Designers and engineers decide how the pen will look, what shape will be given to it, what colors it will carry, the filling systems and all other mechanical aspects. Once the drawing is perfect, the second step comes into play, the Production Department. This department begins with a captivating manufacturing and assembling process. It has the lathe section, where the first step begins taking place. In this section, the solid rods of material are turned either through traditional lathes or through control machines to become part of the fountain pen.
Every step throughout creating a Stipula pen involves an immense amount of hand work and each craftsman and engineer has vowed to give either manual or verbal input from the beginning of the process to the end. When formation of the pen is completed and the final product is packaged and ready to be shipped, it is the goal of the Stipula fountain pen company to be proud of every product they produce.
